Gerry Stone joined the faculty at Poly in the fall of 1986. He earned a bachelor’s in English from Kenyon College in 1981 and a master’s in English from Boston College in 1986. He taught English and coached soccer previously at The Fessenden School in West Newton, Massachusetts, and Clifton College Preparatory School in Bristol, England. The son of two long-time public school teachers, Gerry is originally from Westfield, Massachusetts. He has served Poly in a number of areas. He’s taught each of the Upper School grades for a number of years. He currently teaches Grades 9 and 10 . Also notable, he spent many years teaching a popular Shakespeare elective for juniors and seniors. In addition to his teaching, Gerry coached the Boys’ Soccer team for 32 years and the Golf team for 16 years. He holds an “A” License from the United States Soccer Federation. He also worked as an Upper School Dean for 26 years in an earlier dean system, serving as a Grade 9 Dean for 12 years and a Senior Grade 12 for 14 years. Gerry also spent the 1990s directing Poly’s Summer School.
