“Long before any of us arrived on Earth, people were thinking, loving, rejoicing, suffering, warring, struggling to find better ways to live, and making art to communicate and express all that they experienced. In Latin class we explore some of that vast richness that lies in the past.”
Terra Windham has been teaching Latin since 2000, when she graduated from The University of Dallas with a bachelor’s in classics. Terra has brought enthusiasm and innovative teaching to Latin programs at schools in Texas, including Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas and Carroll High School in Southlake. She taught Latin and English literature in the high desert at The Orme School of Arizona and earned a master’s in English literature from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Terra always dreamed of living in New York, the place where so many stories take place. She joined the Classics department at Poly in 2017 and is enjoying living her own New York story with her husband and three sons in Brooklyn.
